I am a highly trained Registered Specialist in Orthodontics with over 30 years’ experience. I have been privileged to have studied with experts in the UK, Europe, Canada, USA and Australia.
For me, getting to know my patients and understanding their Dental concerns is just as important as the treatment itself. I care about what I do and endeavour to work to the best of my abilities, with my highly trained team members, in providing service and quality dental care to my patients.
I teach as a part time lecturer in Orthodontics at Birmingham Dental school.
I am a Member of the Birmingham Local Dental Committee, British Orthodontic Society, past Treasurer and Chair of the MidlandsOrthodontic Society, an International Member of the American Association of Orthodontics and a member of the European Orthodontic Society and a founder member of the World Federation of Orthodontics .
As a member of the British Orthodontic Society and the Orthodontic Specialists Group, I was awarded a Special Service Award in 2015.
As a Platinum Elite Provider of Invisalign I am an invited Member of the Invisalign Academy and Advisory Board. I am an Invisalign International Speaker and Key Opinion Leader and was presented with a Platinum Award, Offered in recognition of Advancing the field of Orthodontics and a further award in recognition of completing 1000 Invisalign cases.
I am a both a role model and Mentor to young Dentists, staff and students. I was presented with the Inspirational and Achievement awards by Orthodontics Exclusively in December 2017.
With a passionate interest in lifelong learning, I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Health Care Professionals, an Advanced Diploma in Hypnosis and Stress Management and am currently studying for a Level 7 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring, sponsored by Birmingham Local Dental Committee .
I can speak French and schoolgirl German.
Dr Cottam is married to Dr David Cottam, Registered Specialist In Surgical Dentistry, Vice Chairman BDA GDPC, with 3 beautiful, talented daughters.
I qualified at Kings College London in 1984 and joined Orthodontics Exclusively in 2004. I very much enjoy my work and have a particular interest in orthodontics
Before this I was a Clinical Assistant in Orthodontics at Heartland Hospital from (1990-1996) I am also Vice chairman of the Birmingham Local Dental Committee, and also Vice chairman of the British Dental Association and Immediate past Chair of Central Counties Branch of the British Dental Association.
I joined Orthodontics Exclusively in September 1994 as a trainee dental nurse. I then went on to qualify as a dental nurse in November 1996 and gained my Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy (RCS Edinburgh Dec 2009).
I work hard to keep up to date with my continuing professional development by attending dental courses regularly, and I am a Member of the Orthodontic National Group.

I started working as a trainee dental nurse in November 2000. I trained with a general dentist for 4 years with experience in cosmetic dentistry. Progressing from Dental Nursing to Practice Management with Orthodontics Exclusively in March 2015.
Several courses have been undertaken through this role such as Customer Services BTEC Level 2 as well as Adult and Paediatric Basic Life Support and First Aid training.
I really enjoy working at Orthodontics Exclusively and overseeing the smooth running of the practice.
I joined Orthodontics Exclusively in December 2014 as an apprentice dental nurse.
My qualification was achieved in July 2016 and I became registered as a Dental Nurse. Further qualifications achieved from this include Impression taking and casting as well as use of the Invisalign iTero digital scanner.
I also passed the PAR Scoring Course in Cardiff and successfully calibrated December 2017.
I am passionate about my profession and continue building on my knowledge and skill set. I can also speak Bengali.

I Started working in administration with Orthodontics Exclusively in 2012. Through this role I qualified in Business and Administration Level 2. Further training undergone at the practice include dental photography, Adult and Paediatric Basic Life Support, Invisalign training including using the Invisalign iTero digital scanner .I also passed the PAR Scoring Course in Cardiff and successfully calibrated December 2017.
My role progressed to patient coordinator, the interaction between myself and my patients, and working with a great practice team makes my day worthwhile. I am currently undergoing a course to further qualify as a registered Dental Nurse.

Sultan joined the Practice in April 2015 as an Apprentice Dental Nurse and is working towards his Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3 QCF City & Guilds.
Sidra joined the Practice in September 2017 as an Apprentice Dental Nurse and is working towards her Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3 QCF City & Guilds
